A Mother’s Song is the 5-star, folk musical by Scottish composer Finn Anderson and West End director Tania Azevedo.
From 17th century Stirling to 21st century New York City, themes of identity, motherhood, and choice collide in a story which follows three remarkable women at different moments in history and traces the incredible journey of Scottish folk music across the Atlantic.
Sarah comes from a long line of ballad singers, but has severed ties with the folk traditions of her childhood. In modern-day New York City, Sarah’s rediscovery of these songs and the family stories within them, force her to go on an unexpected and life-changing journey across time.
A Mother’s Song premiered at Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling in February 2023.

Mairi Campbell is a Scottish musician whose theatre work draws from personal stories and cultural concerns.
An established member of Scotland’s traditional music scene, she combines voice, fiddle and viola while pushing the boundaries with free improvisation, songs and stagecraft.
Her voice has been heard worldwide thanks to her version of Auld Lang Syne, with David Francis (The Cast), being used in the film Sex and the City.
Mairi and co-devisor / director Kath Burlinson have created The Pendulum Trilogy - three solo multi-disciplinary theatre shows Pulse (2016); Auld Lang Syne (2018) and Living Stone (Scotsman Fringe First 2024).

Sunk tells the story of Bob and Charlie, two incompetent men who set sail on a voyage of remembrance for their fathers who were lost at sea. Will their lifelong friendship survive when they are confined in a small boat with an approaching storm and their world about to capsize around them?

Gig theatre, storytelling and striking visuals combine in When Mountains Meet, to tell the story of one woman’s travels in search of family and connection.
Inspired by the journals of composer Anne Wood, an international cast of storytellers and musicians set forth on an unforgettable voyage from the Scottish Highlands to the Himalayas. The score combines alap, raag, reel and strathspey, as well as English, Gaelic and Hindustani vocals.
When Mountains Meet premiered to sell-out houses at Celtic Connections Festival 2023 and had a sold out tour of Scotland in spring 2024.
